Calvary Chapels Mobilize in LA Fires: Calvary Disaster Relief and U-Turn for Christ Lead the Way

Video by Calvary La Habra and photos by Rick Fox

Pastor Lance Cook, of Calvary Chapel La Habra and co-founder of Calvary Disaster Relief (CDR), (center) surveys the horrific fire damage in the Altadena neighborhood of Los Angeles. The CDR team is offering free burritos to first responders and residents impacted by the fires. Most importantly, they are there to help and pray with those who are distraught and anguished by their loss. They have also prayed with the few homeowners whose houses were miraculously spared, while all their neighbors have lost everything and are dealing with "survivor's guilt." Mike Nelson is the contact; call 714-801-0068 to help or donate.

Calvary Chapel Romoland Pastor Gerry Brown, founder of U-Turn for Christ, grills burgers for first responders. Since Gerry is a chaplain, he and his team have been able to set up a feeding station for all the emergency response teams. The Calvary Chapel team has ministered to Caltrans, highway patrol, LAPD, National Guard, sheriff's department, and fire teams from California and all over the country. Call Gerry at 951-943-7097 to find out how to help or donate to support the outreach.

The Calvary Chapel teams have had the privilege of praying with some of the first responders who have been battling the raging fires in Los Angeles. U-Turn for Christ and Calvary Disaster Relief have been providing food, water, and prayer support to many who have put their lives at risk fighting the infernos.

Altadena community church building remains, suffering a complete loss from the Eaton fire.
