Calvary Chapel Pastor Attempts to Bring Aid to Earthquake Victims
URGENT PRAYER REQUEST
Myanmar (formerly Burma) was devastated by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake last Friday, March 28. Teams are still searching for those buried in the rubble. Six members from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue team arrived over the weekend in Myanmar and are helping with the search.
Please pray for Arron Moon, pastor of Refuge Fellowship Calvary Chapel in Chiang Mai, Thailand, who is attempting to bring a relief team to Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), devastated by a 7.7 magnitude earthquake last Friday, March 28. The earthquake’s epicenter was located near the country’s second-largest city, Mandalay, with a population of 1.5 million people.
“Right now, we don’t even know if we can even get a visa, so we need urgent prayers for God to open the doors if it is His will,” Arron urged. “Specifically, we ask for favor with visas and travel logistics, clear direction on how to serve effectively, protection and provision for our team, and open hearts as we bring the hope of Jesus.”
As of April 1, Myanmar’s military government estimates that more than 2,700 people have died and more than 4,500 have been injured. Those numbers are expected to rise significantly as recovery efforts continue. The strong quakes, including a powerful 6.4 magnitude aftershock, buckled roads, damaged bridges, and flattened many buildings. Effects were felt as far away as Bangkok, Thailand, and southwest China.
The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psalm 34:18
Arron emphasized, “Thank you for lifting this up in prayer! We trust in God’s perfect plan.” Arron and his wife, Vicky, are missionaries sent out from Horizon Christian Fellowship of Indianapolis, IN; they first planted a Calvary Chapel in Myanmar until the military coup forced them to leave in 2021, when they relocated to plant the church in Chiang Mai.
