Flashback: More than 60 Calvary Chapels and many ministries mobilized to bring Christ’s love—through practical assistance, essential supplies, food, water, and prayer—to victims of the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

Immediately after the Pentagon was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, Dee Parlato, from Calvary Chapel Largo, MD, began praying for the men in the room and the decision they were about to make. The room in the Pentagon where Dee would normally have been at that time of day, had just been attacked. This story originally appeared in Issue 9, Fall of 2021.

Andy Deane grew up at Calvary Chapel Old Bridge in New Jersey and attended New York University. He lived blocks from the World Trade Center and worked in its shadow in the fall of 2001. Like many in that area of Manhattan on September 11, Andy ran toward the towers after planes crashed through their upper floors. This is his personal account.

Monroe, UT, hosts a morning parade each summer to celebrate Pioneer Day, a state holiday often called by Utahns “even more important than the Fourth of July.” Pastor Allen Widdows and his wife, Aleacia, moved from California to the small Utah town in 2018, and planted Little Green Valley Calvary Chapel there in 2020. Since then, providing lemonade and hot dogs at the parade has opened an unusual door for them to witness to Mormons there.
