Please pray for Joel Sterling Brown, pastor of Calvary Chapel Living Water Mukachevo, Ukraine, as he faces a possible heart surgery on Friday, April 10.
During the years of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Joel’s church and ministry has provided housing for at least 14,000 internally displaced people, aid distribution, and trauma care.
He reported on FaceBook: “I had a heart attack at the end of February while swimming. Turns out, four years of war and intense serving, while responsible for the lives of others, is stressful …. I thought it was just pain from working out. … Anyways, I took a quick trip to the States to perform a wedding and had trouble breathing after the flight. On my return we did blood and other tests—it confirmed a heart attack.”
Today he is undergoing an MRI to make sure that stents are an option for him. “If it shows good heart function, then I will have surgery on Friday,” he confirmed. “Pray for good heart function when they do the MRI … so we can do surgery on Friday. Pray for healing. Pray for a miracle that gives God glory, showing His goodness and greatness.”
