Revive America Team Members Grow in Faith as They Share the Gospel
Story and photos by Josh Larson
The Revive America team from Calvary Chapel Downey, CA, will be out for one more day to tell others about the Good News of Jesus in Northern Kentucky. Team members are growing in their own faith as they have conversations about the Lord with people and share their personal testimonies with strangers. The team of 70-plus children, youth, and adults representing several churches has been led by Pastor Roger Stahlhut of CC Downey, all sent out by his Senior Pastor Jeff Johnson. The Revive America team has spent this week sharing the Gospel in Northern Kentucky.
Rebecca Bishay, who graduated high school last June, has realized how much she needs the Holy Spirit in order to have a great impact while telling others about the Lord. “My faith has grown in that I’ve gotten a lot of encouragement from God to know that He’s by my side,” Rebecca shared. “I’ve realized that my love for Jesus needs to grow so that I can spread the Gospel effectively.”
Amazingly, one team member received the Lord as his Savior during the second night of the trip. Pastor Roger Stahlhut was teaching the group what the Gospel is and how to communicate it to others—what he calls the “basic fundamentals.” During this training time, a man confessed Jesus as his Lord and Savior in front of the entire group. “There was one member who came here who was not even saved,” Roger pointed out. “He gave his life to the Lord. … Somehow God brought him [here]. God miraculously did a major work and is still doing that work in his life—and that’s the most important thing.”

Although Revive America is reaching out to those around them, Roger knows that revival starts with the team members themselves. “We go and share the Gospel on the outside … but God is always doing a work in our own hearts and reviving us,” he emphasized.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 2 Corinthians 2:14-15

Members of Calvary Chapel Northern Kentucky pray for revival during their Sunday morning service. The Revive America team joined the congregation for church the Sunday before the outreach.
