Call to Action: Genocide in Syria

America suffered much loss in just the last few months. We’ve seen natural disasters claim the lives of children at summer camp, violent shooters taking the lives of students and teachers in churches and schools, and a Christian leader assassinated for speaking the truth while many who disagree with his viewpoint mock and ridicule the heinous act. These are tragic and horrific. And yet, while these are significantly horrible events, there are Christians and other people groups around the world who are currently facing much worse.

Wes Bentley, founder and CEO of Far Reaching Ministries (FRM), recently released a statement as a call to action for the ongoing genocide in Syria. While the release goes into much greater detail, suffice it to say that what is happening is nothing short of genocide. Christians are under attack. The Druze people are also being killed by the thousands. And their killers are not simply taking their lives, but they are inflicting incredible amounts of pain and suffering, the likes of which are simply unimaginable.

The leadership that assumed power at the beginning of the year has close ties to ISIS. While they would never publicly condone these attacks, the reality is they are not only sanctioned by the country’s leaders but are celebrated. A video was recently released by these terrorists giving the world a first-hand look at the gruesome violence while music played joyfully in the background.

Warning: these accounts, and the accounts shared on the FRM website, are extremely violent in nature but are the reality these people are facing.

Men, women, and children are being brutally beaten and murdered.

In one report, elderly men were forced to throw themselves from a seven-story building to their death. They were shot repeatedly as they fell.

In another horrific event, FRM shared about a family who witnessed their daughter being raped and beheaded—right in front of them. She was 5 years old.

Hundreds lie dead in the streets as Islamic terrorists rub their feet in the faces of the bodies in desecration and humiliation.

Several food and water systems have been poisoned so locals will suffer and die of starvation.

In one Syrian defense camp, over 14,500 women have reported being raped.

The need is real. The death toll is rising. The call to action is urgent.

Far Reaching Ministries is intervening to rescue the innocents under attack and provide assistance and much-needed aid to those affected. Pastor Don McClure of Calvary Way is urging Calvary Chapel pastors to strongly consider this plea.

Visit the Far Reaching Ministry website for ways you can get involved. Click on the video to understand the depth of the atrocities happening in Syria as world leaders are silent at frmusa.org/criticalupdate. Warning: the video is graphic and violent.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:9-10
