Visas, Tears, and Prayer: Calvary Chapel Missionaries Share Christ After Earthquake

UPDATE: PRAYER REQUEST

Pastor Arron Moon (center, wearing a hat) and his wife, Vicky (second from right), bring aid and comfort to Burmese families after a building collapse in Bangkok during the recent earthquake. They lead a Calvary Chapel in Chiang Mai and are waiting for travel documents to return to Myanmar, where they previously served, to share the hope of Christ.

Please continue to pray for Calvary Chapel missionaries, Pastor Arron and his wife, Vicky Moon, who are currently in Bangkok, Thailand, waiting with other church members. They are waiting for visas to travel to Myanmar (Burma), where they had previously planted a Calvary Chapel. After relocating their ministry to Thailand due to the military coup, they now feel called to return and help in the aftermath of the devastating 7.7 earthquake.

While waiting, the Moons visited the site of a collapsed building in Bangkok, where many of the workers were Burmese. Their families, gathered nearby, anxiously awaited news about missing loved ones. Arron shared, “We were blessed to provide much-needed clothing and bring toys for the children caught in the midst of this heartbreaking situation.”

He continued, “One moment that deeply touched us was when a woman, overwhelmed with grief with her husband missing in the collapsed building, grabbed onto Vicky and just held on. She was desperate for comfort, and in that moment, Vicky prayed over her. Many tears were shed as God’s presence met her in her pain.”

The Moons have submitted their travel documents for Myanmar but likely won’t receive an update for some time. Please pray for favor with the authorities and for open doors.

Prayer Requests

  • For visas to be granted so Arron, Vicky, and the team can travel to Myanmar

  • Comfort, provision, and peace for grieving families

  • Continued opportunities to minister in both Thailand and Myanmar

Thank you for standing with them in prayer

Missionary Alyssa Rook (left) prays as Vicky Moon gently shares the love of Christ with a Burmese woman whose husband was inside the building before it collapsed.

The Burmese woman leans into the missionary as Vicky prays for her and her family.

Families impacted by the collapse of the building in Bangkok stay in temporary housing.

Workers search through the wreckage of the collapsed building that had been under construction in Bangkok.
