With well over 50,000 evangelical Christians crowding in to hear his words, Pastor Franklin Graham lifted up our nation in prayer at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., at noon this past Saturday, September 26. Well-known musician Michael W. Smith led the large group in praise songs before a surprise visit from Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen. Huge crowds, lined up at the memorial and the reflecting pool, let out a deafening cheer when the Pence family appeared.
After several others prayed, Franklin led the prayer walk with seven stops between the Lincoln Memorial and the U.S. Capitol. People prayed at the World War II Memorial for the military and police, at the Washington Monument for solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic and the end of abortion, and at the National Museum of African American History and Culture for respect and reconciliation between the races— among several other stops.

Calvary Chapel groups from across the nation journeyed to D.C. to join other believers in the one-day event that began at the Lincoln Memorial and ended in front of the Supreme Court. Pastor Skip Heitzig of Calvary Church in Albuquerque, NM, was invited personally by Franklin. “There are thousands upon thousands here for one reason,” exclaimed Skip. “They believe that God in heaven is going to answer our prayers like He said He would. The Lord said, ‘Call on me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you know not.’ So, we are looking for God to answer that prayer and hopefully bring revival back to this country.”
