Prayers for the Crisis in Afghanistan

Please continue to pray for the grave situation in Afghanistan, as American military troops have been pulled out of the country after a 20-year war in the Middle East. The Taliban has taken over the country, with only the airport in Kabul being held by the American military; yet the Taliban is patrolling and blocking the entrance to the airport. The withdrawal has left chaos and great fear in this troubled country.

Pray for peace to reign during this crisis.

Pray for the supernatural protection of Christian missionaries still on the ground, unable to leave and in great danger.

Pray for strength and courage for the Afghan church, Christian believers who now make up one of the fastest growing churches in the world. They are vulnerable and have no political power. Some of them officially changed their religious affiliation on their national ID cards to Christian, placing them in danger. Church leaders have been targeted and threatened by the Taliban.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:10-12

May God reveal Himself to Afghani residents, including Taliban leaders and soldiers, as their Lord and Savior.

Pray for the Afghan allies, who assisted Americans and other nations while they were in the country. Pray against revenge by the Taliban.

Pray for the women and girls of Afghanistan, who have made great strides in freedoms and educational opportunities over the past 20 years. Some of them have not lived under Taliban rule before. Pray against the violence threatened and enacted against them as many will be taken as “brides” for Taliban fighters.

Pray for the displaced refugees fleeing Afghanistan for safer countries.

Pray for the thousands of Americans still left behind in Afghanistan, being told to shelter in place until they can get to the airport for safety. May the Lord provide a way home for them.

Pray for wisdom for President Joe Biden and his advisors as they face and address this crisis.

Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD; Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. Psalm 130:1-2
