Calvary Chapel and Family Mourn the Loss of their Pastor, Father, and Husband
Please pray for the family of Michael Urciuoli, pastor of Calvary Chapel Ontario, CA, who passed away Saturday night from complications related to sarcoma cancer.
The family reported: On Saturday, March 4, 2023, our sweet father, husband, papa, and pastor went to meet his wonderful Savior. We were all there sitting, talking, and praying over him.
We laid hands on him until he was escorted into our Father’s house, surrounded and loved by family.
A Southern California native, Michael grew up in a typical Catholic family attending Mass on Sundays and playing sports during the week. In June of 1990, under the ministry of Pastor David Rosales of CC Chino Valley, Pastor Mike gave his heart to the Lord at a Sunday night service. Ordained in 1995, he served for three years as the children’s minister at CC Chino Valley before being sent out to South Ontario. He and his wife, Terry, have four grown children and seven grandchildren.
His family continued: Our hearts are heavy, but there is still so much peace surrounding every single one of us. The Lord has been faithful. As of right now we are holding each other close and mourning.
We have no doubt that Calvary Chapel of Ontario has touched so many lives for the kingdom and will continue to do so. As of now, interim Pastor Sean Thurin is leading in Spirit and in truth. What a blessing to see the people who so lovingly and faithfully served alongside Mike, step up, and continue in ministry.
For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. Romans 14:8
We will miss you, Dad. You have left a hole that no man will ever be able to fill. But God can. And we are thankful for that. Heaven now holds an even bigger piece of our hearts. I hope that once you get there, you’ll turn around and see us all right behind you one day. May it feel like no time has passed. Kiss Grandpa and Ryan for us. We will do our best to honor your legacy.
Plans for a memorial service will be announced soon.
