Responding with Christ’s Love to the Deep South
Dear Pastors,
Hurricane Helene’s high winds and torrential rains caused great damage in several areas of the southeastern United States. Calvary Chapels in the Deep South region are helping in practical ways and sharing the love of Jesus. To coordinate efforts between Calvary Chapels who want to help and the Calvary Chapels who are in the affected areas, we have set up a network of communications.
Calvary Chapel Knoxville, Tennessee is coordinating efforts in Eastern Tennessee and Western Carolina. To help in those areas contact Pastor David Cisneros at 915-667-3618. To help in Valdosta, Georgia contact Shanna Van Cleave of Calvary Chapel Valdosta at 240-416-6689.
Calvary Chapel Knoxville and Pastor Mark Kirk is in contact with the local pastors of the impacted areas in Tennessee and North Carolina, and will connect you with a pastor who can direct you to pressing needs. Calvary Chapel Valdosta and Pastor Charles Van Cleave will direct you to needs in South Georgia.
If you travel to either area be prepared to provide your own lodging and food. When you call you will be provided a list of hotels in the area. As of today, immediate needs include bottled water, and items like diapers, baby wipes, disinfectant, and formula. Tarps are needed to cover roof damage. Gasoline for generators and chainsaws are also in short supply. Right now residents are dealing with downed trees. Chainsaw teams are needed.
To financially support this relief effort you can donate to “Calvary Chapel Knoxville” or “Calvary Chapel Valdosta.” Please, designate your donation, “Helene Relief.” You can send support directly to the churches. Your contributions and prayers are much appreciated.
In Christ,
Sandy Adams
