Deadly 7.4 Earthquake Devestates Colombia

PLEASE PRAY FOR COLOMBIA

Please join us in praying for the people of Colombia, especially those in Bogotá, following the devastating earthquake that struck the country today.

A 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, leaving at least 111 people dead and dozens more injured.

Just a few weeks ago, one of our photographers was in Bogotá, Yopal, and Orocué, with a team from Calvary Chapel Downey, led by Pastor Cris Reyes, giving us the opportunity to connect with and see firsthand some of the communities, churches, and wonderful Colombians in this area. Because of just being there we are thankful for the Lord’s protection, but this tragedy feels especially heartbreaking for us.

Please pray specifically for Calvary Chapel Bogotá with Pastor Chachi Martinez and his congregation. Be lifting up their safety, the Lord’s provision, and strength as they care for and minister to those around them. Pray for the churches throughout this region, that the Lord would use the Calvary Chapel Churches to bring hope as they respond to the needs of their communities.

Please also pray for the families who have lost loved ones, for those who have been injured or displaced, and for the many people who are still waiting for news about family and friends. Pray for protection, comfort, peace, and strength in the Lord amidst this devastation.

Through all of the trials we are reminded of who God is and thankful for the hope we have in Him, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
