Aftershocks following the massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake cause more destruction
The building that housed the Capilla Verdad Church in Cali, Colombia, led by Pastor Luis Carlos Taborda, collapsed during aftershocks following the massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake on August 10, 2026. Pastor Luis’ apartment was above the church on the third floor.

Please continue to pray fervently for the people of Colombia as powerful aftershocks continue following the devastating earthquake.
Pastor Chachi (Joshua) Martinez of Calvary Chapel Bogotá describes the destruction he sees in Cali, Colombia, as he stands in front of a building that collapsed during the continuing aftershocks. The first floor of that collapsed building housed the Capilla Verdad Church which is led by Pastor Luis Carlos Taborda, whose apartment was above the church on the third floor. By the grace and mercy of the Lord, Pastor Luis and the others living in the building escaped without injury. Praise God for His protection!
Pastor Chachi was joined yesterday by Pastor Tim Mallory of Calvary Chapel Cartagena and Pastor Hernando Vargas Manrique of Calvary Chapel Fidelidad Jamundí as they minister to those affected.
Please pray for protection, wisdom, strength, and opportunities to share the hope of Jesus Christ as these pastors and churches serve their communities during this difficult time.
