Looking Back on 2022: Feeding the Hungry Physically & Spiritually

Ministry to suffering Ukrainians—either those trapped in their war-torn country or refugees who have fled to bordering nations—has many faces. Many in the Calvary Chapel family of churches from all over the world are stepping up to provide assistance and refuge.
Among them is Far Reaching Ministries (FRM), which is partnering with several Calvary Chapel Association churches to face this overwhelming challenge. FRM founder Wes Bentley said the organization is responding to a tidal wave of requests to rescue people unable to leave Ukraine. (See the Calvary Chapel Magazine story Far Reaching Ministries Join in Aid to Ukrainians from March 14.)
This week, FRM also set up in an unnamed Ukrainian city to give bread to hungry residents, shown in the photos below. Residents still trapped in Eastern Ukrainian cities are facing dire circumstances as the Russian army’s military attacks continue. Long lines formed to receive this now-precious commodity in an area where food and medicine are becoming scarce.
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” John 6:35
In the meantime, a large network of Ukrainian pastors, military chaplains, and aid groups have united to help evacuate Ukrainians seeking to leave and to get aid into Ukraine and neighboring countries. God has provided a massive warehouse less than two hours from the border of Ukraine that Calvary Chapel pastors hope will serve to bring a flood of aid into Poland—where more than 1 million Ukrainians have fled for their lives since Russian troops invaded their country.
